Wyoming Wildlife Magazine

Remember back in November, I submitted photos to the Wyoming Wildlife Magazine Photo Contest? Well I didn't hear back from them and was VERY disappointed. I thought my pictures were pretty good. When I took them down to have them printed off for the contest, the guy at Camera Country asked me why I had my camera set on such a low resolution. Well, not knowing that much about my camera or sd cards I didn't think about the quality of the picture - rather - on one setting I could get 35 pictures on one card and on another setting I could get 500 pictures on the same card. So...

... I opted for lots of pictures. We were in Yellowstone - no computer - and I couldn't download the pics and I wanted to take a lot of pictures. Anyway, the pictures were not the best quality.

I got online and looked up previous winners from past years and was really "put out" when I realized that pro's could enter the contest and the winners were all photographers that had studios and were REALLY GOOD. So hope pretty much went out the window. Well, February (when we were suppose to hear if our pictures had been selected) came and went. I knew that they would return the entries sometime in April or May.

On Tuesday morning of this week, I got up and looked out the window to see what kind of weather we were having so I could dress to walk. There was a package sitting by the door so I went out and got it and saw that it was from the magazine. I just assumed that they were returning my LOSING photos. When I opened it up, I found 5 Wyoming Wildlife Magazines. Then I thought, Hmmmm they must send them to everyone that submitted photos. So I sat down and started looking through the pictures. I got to the "Color Recreation" section and my heart just about jumped out of my chest. There was one of my pictures - and the caption "Anglers on the Firehole River, Yellowstone National Park, by Bonnie Romney; Nikon D40.

I couldn't believe it! There were 366 photographers that entered the contest. 2,334 pictures submitted.

They chose 45 pictures for the magazine . There were a total of 28 photographers in the magazine. Some had several pictures (over half of them were professional photographers.) I googled the names and found that out. But who's counting. Well, I guess I am:)

Needless to say, I have been overly excited. I sent a magazine to Bryan and to Clint and didn't want to say much about winning until they got their magazines.

So thanks for being great subjects to photograph Bryan, Clint and Ron. I wonder if Idaho has a wildlife magazine, cause now I am really excited for McCall in August.
