We had Stake Conference today at 10:00 - which was great. President Eyring's talk was fantastic. After that we decided to take a drive up to Zions and look at the changing colors. The leaves are still not all changed but it was beautiful. We packed a picnic and ate at the Riverwalk trailhead. We thought we would see some wild turkeys. Guess they know what season it is and are hiding out. There are some fabulous ranches in several of the small towns along the way. We love Rockville...
... which is where we saw LuLu - the cow.

All Hallows Eve

We had a great Halloween. Clint,Lori and Bode came down from Salt Lake on Friday. Bode was a crack-up. They got here late (about 10:30pm) and Bode wasn't tired so he was up dancing until midnight to Brooks & Dunn. He has some pretty good moves. We were all laughing so hard. I put some beans in pans to soak overnight for the chili I had to make for our Halloween dinner at the church on Saturday night. By the next morning, the beans had taken over the kitchen. I don't know how much chili I thought I needed to make but by the looks of the beans - tons. Clint and Ron went golfing and I started the chili. After chopping and browning (yes Clint, there is really a term - browning meat) for what seemed like hours I put it all together and had to keep getting more pans out to fit it all in.

Angela called and said Maia was bored to tears so asked if I could come get her so she could come out and play with Bode. Bode loved her.
Maia was getting ready for the evening and Lori offered to do her hair and make-up. It really turned out cute.

We went to the church for chili, cornbread and homemade rootbeer. Ron and I had to go down to the Beehive Home to help there so Clint,Lori,Bode,Angela and Maia all stayed for the "trunk or treat". After they finished they came down where we were and trick or treated there.

Maia came home and counted the candy that she got (140 pieces) and Bode got( 110 pieces). That should keep them wired for a while.

The residents of the Beehive Home loved having all the kids come with their costumes on. They get so lonely. We enjoy being able to spend time there with them. They appreciate everything we do so much. We have gotten quite attached to some of them. Ron Page is one that has been there since we started helping out over 2 years ago. He has always been so fun to talk to and has had so many interesting experiences that we have enjoyed listening to. He is almost 100 and has really gone down hill the last 6 months or so. He has lung cancer. I went to his room to see him and he doesn't recognize anyone anymore. It is so sad to see him slipping. We will really miss him.

We loved having Clint,Lori and Bodi and Angela and Maia here for the weekend. Time flies too fast when we have any of the kids and grandkids here. Would have loved seeing all the other grandkids in their costumes.

Winter garden update

We have been watching and waiting for any sign of life in our garden but nothing...

...until today. Little lettuces and peas. We will be eating them by Thanksgiving. Next year maybe a pumpkin.

Veggies in December

We decided to build a small veggie garden. We had a place way off in our side yard where a bush had died and thought it would be a great place. It won't hold much but - enough for a salad or two.

Cedar Breaks

Last week we packed up our fishing gear and lunch and drove up past Parawon to look for a lake that Ron heard had great fishing. We were suppose to turn onto the Boyscout Camp road but when we got there it was chained closed for the season. There was a side road that we never could find so we drove up through Brian Head and looked around and then up to Cedar Breaks. It was amazing!!!
